4 to 6 Years

Diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and pertussis (DTaP); measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR); varicella; and inactivated poliovirus (IPV)

3 to 6 Years

Yearly seasonal influenza vaccine; trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine; or live, attenuated influenza vaccine by nasal spray

  • Safety promotion and injury prevention
    • Improved gross and fine motor skills, coordination and balance make preschoolers less prone to falls 
    • Preschoolers tend to be less reckless, listen more to parental rules, and are aware of potential dangers such as hot or sharp objects 
    • Pedestrian vehicle injuries increase because of the preschoolers activities such as playing outside
