      • Drowning threats 
      • Fall threats 
      • Burn threats
        • Cigarette smoking should not be allowed in the vicinity of the child 
        • All homes should be equipped with fire, smoke, and carbon monoxide detectors 
        • Water heaters should be set to no more than 120 degrees F
        • Children should be kept out of direct sunlight- using skin protectant measures 
        • Dangerous items such as matches, electrical cords, and electrical sockets should be kept out of the reach of children.
      • Choking hazards 
      • Possible strangling 
      • If they have not already done so, parent should be encouraged to learn or be recertified in emergency action skills for choking, infant and child CPR, and first aid
